Mumbai: BMC wins national award for ‘Water Purity’

The water department in the Mumbai region has undergone radical changes and improvements through modern technology over the last few years. The civic body has found and repaired leaks at almost 1.75 lakh places, said civic officials. While work was in progress at various places, 89,908 service connections were replaced.

The National Award for ‘Water Purity’, which is given annually by the renowned Indian Water Works Association of India, specially to local self-governing bodies for improving the quality of water through technology, efficient administration and high quality management in the field of water supply, was awarded to the BMC.
