The 67th court of Metropolitan Magistrate in Borivli has convicted Asad Hussain Shaikh, 48, for molesting a woman in 2014. The case was registered at Kurar police station. On September 30, Magistrate Abhay Ghuge sentenced Shaikh to one year of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of R10,000 under Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). In default of payment, the accused will face an additional one month of simple imprisonment. IPC section was implied as the case dates back to 2014, before the BNS came into force.
