Mumbai: Central Railway announcer attempts suicide over 'non-payment of salary'

Before consuming poison at his residence in Kalyan, announcer Venkatesh Vemugutti recorded a video in which he said that he is taking the extreme step as he has not been paid his salary since months.

A 27-year-old contractual employee of the Central Railway reportedly attempted suicide on Thursday over non-payment of salary by the contractor for the past six months.

Before consuming poison at his residence in Kalyan, announcer Venkatesh Vemugutti recorded a video in which he said that he is taking the extreme step as he has not been paid his salary since months. He was rushed to Central Hospital at Ulhasnagar, where he is recovering.
