Mumbai’s Metro network is set for a major boost, with several corridors nearing completion and ready to open in the coming months. Alongside this, the new Mandale Metro depot, home to India’s largest Metro training centre, is ready for inauguration. Additionally, the much-awaited ‘Mumbai One’ app, integrating 11 public transport operators, including the Mumbai suburban railway for the first time, is also poised for launch.

Corridors to open
At least four Metro corridors are expected to partially open by the end of 2025. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is building a 12-line Metro network spanning 337.1 km across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). So far, four lines (58.9 km total, including the 12.44 km underground Aqua Line 3) are operational. Eight more lines (165.7 km) are under construction, while others are in planning or tendering stages. Trial runs for the Yellow Line 2B are ongoing, and MMRDA has issued tenders to transport Metro coaches for the Green Line 4.

A 10.5 km elevated extension of Line 7 with 8 stations
Expected by December 2025: 4.5 km stretch from Dahisar to Kashigaon, linking with Lines 2A, 10, and proposed Line 13

Metro Line 2B
(Yellow Line — DN Nagar to Mandale)
A 23.64 km elevated line with 20 stations connecting DN Nagar to Mandale via Chembur, Kurla, and BKC
Expected by December 2025: 5.4 km stretch from Mandale to Diamond Garden with five stations
Progress: Trial runs have started
