India is all set to host the first-ever Mumbai Climate Week 2026 in February, an official statement said on Tuesday.
The Mumbai Climate Week will be held from February 17 to 19, 2026 at the Jio World Convention Centre. The event aims to position India as a climate action leader of the Global South.
The event is organised by Project Mumbai in partnership with the Government of Maharashtra’s Department of Environment and Climate Change and supported by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
The event is expected to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with participation from climate leaders from over 30 countries.
The focus will be on food systems, energy transition, and urban resilience, with discussions guided by principles of justice, innovation, and funding.
Speaking about Mumbai Climate Week, Maharashtra Chief Minister Fadnavis said, " It’s high time we move from dialogue to action in the space of climate change. Mumbai Climate Week is a great initiative that not only celebrates climate mitigation efforts but also brings everyone -- citizens, businesses, and institutions -- into action. It will set benchmarks for Maharashtra and Mumbai, inspiring us to take concrete steps rather than remain spectators. We will reach out to the global community to make Mumbai Climate Week a global event, truly where hope meets action."
Mumbai Climate Week is more than just a conference
The main hub will host leadership dialogues, panels, and strategy sessions. A network of peripheral events including exhibitions, film screenings, art festivals, hackathons, and community workshops will engage citizens across Mumbai. A climate-focused food festival will allow the public to participate in practical climate action.
Strategic knowledge on climate change
Mumbai Climate Week will give voice not only to policymakers and experts but also to citizens, students, and grassroots initiatives. It will be India’s first dedicated, citizen-led platform focused on speeding up climate action. Monitor Deloitte will be the strategic knowledge partner.
