From using camera-equipped drones to installation of CCTV cameras across majority of the visarjan points in the city, the Mumbai police are leaving no stone unturned to ensure an incident-free Ganeshotsav across the city.

&ldquo;We will use drones equipped with cameras to track the exact vehicular movement at various locations. They (drones) will also help us monitor the situation,&rdquo; said a police officer. Besides going tech-savvy, it has been learnt that leaves of all the policemen have either been cancelled or cut short, and they have been asked to report to duty from September 17 &mdash; the day the festival begins.

In addition, help will be sought from 900 NSS students, 400 NCC students, 1,500 Nagarik Suraksha Dal volunteers, 54 Traffic Guards, 300 Scouts and Guides and around 6,000 workers of Aniruddha Bapu trust. &ldquo;About 13,519 people will man the visarjan route for Lalbaugcha Raja.
This year, we have managed to provide CCTV cover across most of the 88 visarjan points in the city. Girgaum, Dadar, Bandra, Juhu Chowpaty and Powai Ganesh Ghats will be covered by CCTV,&rdquo; said Deven Bharti, joint commissioner of police (Law and Order).

Cops said while there were no specific terror alerts for the city during Ganeshotsav, they will keep strict vigil and monitor bandobast regularly. &ldquo;We haven&rsquo;t received any specific terror alerts till date, but our priority is to ensure that the festival season passes peacefully,&rdquo; said a senior police officer.
Take a detour &ldquo;Dr B A Road (Bharatmata Cinema to Bavala Compound), Dattaram Lad Marg (Chinchpokli to Kalachowkie), Ranade Road (Dadar), Gokhale Road (Shivaji Park), Nathalal Pareekh Marg (Colaba), Linking Road, Juhu Tara Road and Tagore Road, among others, are some of the areas that will be cordoned off for the public on visarjan day,&rdquo; said Milind Bharambe, joint commissioner of police (Traffic).
