A Mumbai court on Monday granted bail to&nbsp;Iqbal Kaskar, brother of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim, on surety amount of Rs. 50,000.&nbsp;
The Mazgoan Metropolitan Magistrate court was hearing the bail application of Dawood Ibrahim's brother, who was lodged in judicial custody,&nbsp;in connection to an extortion case.
He was arrested on February 3 in connection with an extortion case registered with J J Marg police station in central Mumbai.&nbsp;A magistrate's court had on Friday remanded him to judicial custody till February 20.
The police had sought remand of Kaskar on the ground that they want to&nbsp;investigate whether he had connections with Dawood. Police also said&nbsp;he might also threaten the complaint hence bail not to be granted.
However, Kaskar's lawyer argued that further custody was not required.&nbsp;The magistrate then rejected the remand application.
Real estate agent Mohammed Salim Sheikh filed complaint at J J Marg&nbsp;police station alleging that Kaskar and his men had thrashed him and&nbsp;demanded Rs 3 lakh after which Kaskar was arrested.
Kaskar and two others were booked under sections 385 (extortion), 323&nbsp;(causing hurt) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal code.&nbsp;
