Mumbai: Covid-positive man dies in Virar, but BMC's data reflects zero deaths

Sources in the Rural Hospital, where the 25-year-old was declared brought dead and his body tested positive later, say VVCMC is neglecting their report, youth had earlier visited JJ hospital to get treatment for fever and cough

Even as a 25-year-old died of COVID-19 in Virar on Tuesday and the doctors at Rural Hospital alerted the Vasai Virar City Municipal Corporation (VVCMC), its official data reported no deaths on Tuesday. 

mid-day has accessed the death report of the youth who was brought dead to the hospital on March 9 at 11:30 pm. The doctors suspected some foul play and alerted police to conduct a panchnama so that a post-mortem can be done.
