A 16-year-old girl has alleged that her 28-year-old cousin raped her four times on the night of November 11. The accused then asked her to keep quiet, threatening to harm her and her family, if she disclosed the assault to her family members. The girl stayed quiet for more than a week, but mustered up the courage and informed her father about the incident on November 20, after the accused forced her to join him again.

After hearing about the horror his daughter had to undergo, the father registered a complaint with the Ghatkopar police station, following which the accused was arrested. Police said the accused was identified as Javed Jaman Shaikh, who works as a driver, and is the minor’s aunt’s son.
