The Mumbai sessions court acquitted a 31-year-old man, who was accused of raping a 28-year-old woman on the pretext of treating her for depression through black magic.

Special women&rsquo;s court Judge Vrushali Joshi acquitted Ganesh Namdev Bhangre, who worked at a private firm in Andheri (east) and was a resident of Tagore Nagar in Vikhroli.
The complainant lived in Vile Parle and was depressed since the time she had broken up with her boyfriend.
A friend then introduced her to Bhangre in June 2013 claiming that the latter could treat her through black magic.
According to the complaint, Bhangre used magic to mesmerise her and then had physical relations with her for a year at his place in Vikhroli.
He had also allegedly extorted Rs 80,000 from her for the pooja that he had performed. When the survivor realised that she was being raped, she informed her father and the crime was registered.
Bhangre was booked under IPC sections 376 (rape), 420 (cheating) and under relevant sections of the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifices and other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act, 2013.
Bhangre&rsquo;s lawyer argued that they were seeing each other and had physical relations with mutual consent. They even went on a holiday to Shirdi. He further said the survivor had gotten pregnant and the couple had agreed on an abortion.
