On Friday, an unidentified accused allegedly kidnapped a nine-year-old girl from Bhandup Sonapur junction in a BMC pick-up van, raped her in the bushes near Nahur station and even tried to strangulate her. At 11 pm that night, a few locals found the unconscious survivor near Nahur station and alerted the Navghar police station.

The kidnap The incident occurred at 8.30 pm on Friday, when the minor was playing with her siblings near Bhandup Sonapur junction in Mulund where she lives.

According to her police statement, the survivor&rsquo;s mother said, &ldquo;My daughter was playing with her siblings. At 9.30 pm, one of them told me that an unknown person took her in a BMC car, following which we set out to look for my daughter. At 4.30 am on Saturday, we reported the incident to Mulund police station.&rdquo;
The case was registered at Navghar police station as Nahur, where the survivor was found, falls under its jurisdiction.
Advocate Arun Mishra, who found the minor and informed the police, said, &ldquo;I was passing the lane at 11 pm when I spotted a girl lying on the ground, surrounded by people. I took a U-turn and saw that the girl&rsquo;s dress had blood stains and she had been brutally assaulted. We gave her some water and later, a couple arrived and took her to the police station.&rdquo;

Deputy Commissioner of police Vinay Kumar Rathod (Zone 7) said, &ldquo;We have registered an offence. After we got the call, the girl was taken to Veer Sawarkar Hospital and after preliminary medication, she was admitted to Sion hospital where she was operated on.&rdquo; Investigations revealed that the accused fed her a vada pav that carried a sedative.
The unidentified accused has been booked under Sections 363 (kidnapping), 376 (1) (2) (rape) of the Indian Penal Code along with sections 4,5 (I) (M) and 6 under Protection of Children under sexual offences act 2012.
