Till now the cops were quite sure that gangster Harish Mandvikar's aide Deepak Pandey would not be a threat to the city anymore. But the alleged abduction of a businessman on November 3 has proved them wrong. Pandey is back in action, even after being externed from the city for two years. After kidnapping the businessman, Vishal Nikam, along with his associates from Dahisar, they assaulted him and took away his car. They told him that the only way he could get it back was by paying them '2.5 lakh. The MHB police have registered a case and arrested one.

Nikam said, "Sometime back, one of Pandey's associates Mukesh Degda and I had a business dispute, but we had settled the matter. I was worried because Pandey had called me up and demanded money. He thought as he was a gangster, I would agree to pay, but I didn't. While I was at a party in Dahisar West on November 3, Pandey and his friend Nikhil Manjrekar arrived and called me out. When I refused to go, they dragged me out and made me sit in the car. My friend Suraj tried to talk to them, but they pushed him into the car and drove us to the Challenger Towers in Kandivli East, where more joined. They started assaulting."
"When I begged for my life, they agreed to leave me if I handed over my car, saying I could take it back after I paid them Rs. 2.5 lakh. I did as told. After sometime Pandey called up and asked me to take back the vehicle. It was probably because he doubted that I would approach the police. After Suraj brought back the car, I filed a complaint at the MHB police station." A police officer said, "Pandey is a close aide of Mandvikar. Several cases have been registered against him. Degda has been arrested, but the others are absconding."
