All this 19-year-old was trying to do was protect his sister from harassers; instead, he ended up in hospital, courtesy the troublesome trio. Mercifully, the three stalkers have been arrested and put behind bars. The Kolshewadi police, with whom a complaint was lodged, said the incident happened outside the girl's college in Kalyan East.

According to the police, the 17-year-old girl is an FYBCom student. In her statement to the police, she said three youths in their 20s from the same college - Hitesh Mhatre, Vaibhav Mhatre and Abhishek Mishra - had been passing lewd comments on her for over a week. Irritated, she had confronted them yesterday and asked if they were passing comments on her.

Troublesome trio "The three were brazen and told her that indeed they were teasing her. She walked away and asked her cousin to teach them a lesson," said an officer.
The victim had contacted Congress member from Kalyan East, Seema Khan, 25, for help. Khan said, "The girl and her cousin, Manish Pujari, had first approached a professor with the complaint. But the professor had ignored them... They then approached the youths."
"They assaulting him badly. The incident took place in front of professors and staff, but no one came to help. It must have gotten recorded on the CCTV cameras on the premises," she added.

After talks failed Khan decided to settle the issue by asking the youths to apologise. "We were trying to sort out the matter before a professor, and suggested that parents of the three be called, so that they could be made aware of their sons' inappropriate behaviour and reprimand them. The youths, however, claimed that their parents were in Navi Mumbai and wouldn't be able to come. And further, instead of apologising, Hitesh told the professor to not take any tension, that he wouldn't let the college get dragged into it and would beat up the victim outside once she left the college premises," alleged Khan, adding, "That angered us so much that we finally approached the police and registered a case."
"We have registered a case against the three based on the girl's statement. They have been arrested and will be produced in court on Wednesday. Further investigation is on," said Assistant Police Inspector Sandeep Borade.
