A cultural weave in New York At New York&rsquo;s Museum of Modern Art, a large wall showcases a striking world map made using circuit boards, speakers, fittings and spools of electrical wires linking one country to another.

The massive work, Woven Chronicle, is the brainchild of Mumbai artist Reena Kallat, who created it in situ as part of the exhibition, Insecurities: Tracing Displacement And Shelter that runs till January 22. Kallat&rsquo;s take depicts a symbolic web that everyone is entwined in, thanks to the movements of travellers, migrants and labour across the world.
&ldquo;By changing the instrument of this quasi-cartographic drawing from a pencil line to a wire, I see the map as dynamic, streaming and transferring data with the global flows of energies and people,&rdquo; the artist shares on email.
Worth a thousand words Goa can very well lay its claim to being called a serious art sanctuary now. Among the litany of art festivals taking place in the sunshine state is The One Fest Goa that celebrates visual storytelling.

Being held from November 21 to 30 in Panaji, the festival runs concurrently with the International Film Festival of India with the venues facing each other, so visitors are truly spoilt for choice. The art fest will have international photographers, filmmakers and designers exhibiting their work, conducting talks, and master-classes, and screening short films.
The festival also offers the opportunity to emerging photographers and filmmakers to make a pitch for grants for their future projects before a jury, and the strongest proposals will then be funded by the fest.

Khanna was at the US Vice President&rsquo;s residence recently and the chef couldn&rsquo;t be happier when Biden hugged him and said, &ldquo;Thank you for contributing so much to America. Thank you for sharing India.&rdquo;
And quickly came a selfie of the two men smiling on Twitter. The experience, in Khanna&rsquo;s words, was &lsquo;surreal.&rsquo;
Chained for a cause In an effort to urge the government to end the suffering of elephants held captive inside temples, PETA founder Ingrid Newkirk (in pic) will be sending out a message &mdash; loud and clear.

Newkirk, who will be visiting the city on Friday, will show up on the pavement opposite Bombay Blue restaurant at Kala Ghoda, where she will be &lsquo;chained&rsquo; inside a decorated structure resembling the pillars of a temple, and &lsquo;beaten&rsquo; by a mahout using an ankus.
A sign beside her will read: For God&rsquo;s sake: stop chaining elephants. &ldquo;Elephants who are abused cannot bless &mdash; they can only curse,&rdquo; said Newkirk. &ldquo;These intelligent, sensitive individuals belong with their families, not in chains.&rdquo; PETA is calling for all enslaved elephants to be rescued and released into reputable sanctuaries.

The restaurant is being launched by Harsh Parekh, the owner of Picante Ristorante, Petra Resto Lounge &amp; Vezzo Resto Lounge. There will be a separate AM and PM menu; the AM version will be a buffet aimed at the corporate and working crowd.
