Move over IKEA, it is time for a Naga-inspired takeover of Venice. Shakti Design Residency&rsquo;s annual programme across Delhi, Jaipur, and Mumbai has resulted in their latest presentation at the upcoming Homo Faber 2026 in Venice this September.

Centred on the communal architecture, form and the Naga morung, woodcarving, and cane-working traditions, Czech artist Tadeas Podracky&rsquo;s collaboration with master artisan Ajay Gour and the Heirloom Naga Centre in Dimapur is titled Prorustani / Growing Into. That&rsquo;s a global moment for the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/brand-media/lifestyle/article/empowering-indian-artisans-and-customising-traditional-handloom-the-vision-of-vandana-founder-of-radhas-508" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Indian artisan.</a>
<h2>Legacy of a gymkhana</h2>

For 150 years,<a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/16-staffers-of-bombay-gymkhana-club-at-fort-test-positive-for-coronavirus-23166557" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener"> Bombay Gymkhana</a> has been a witness to Mumbai&rsquo;s ever-evolving sporting culture, and now its history has been brought together in a new coffee table book, The Journey So Far (Spenta Multimedia). Unveiled on August 22, the book brings together archival photographs, historical records and contemporary images, chronicling the club&rsquo;s association with cricket, rugby, polo and other sports, alongside iconic sporting personalities including Uday Pawar, Nari Contractor, Farokh Engineer, Sunil Gavaskar, Mahesh Bhupathi and MM Somaya.

Talking about his journey with the<a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/maharashtra-government-to-review-lease-norms-of-mumbai-gymkhanas-amid-inspection-drive-23632144" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener"> Gymkhana</a>, Somaya shared, &ldquo;The iconic Bombay Gymkhana has been a sportsman&rsquo;s paradise for over a century and a half, striking a balance between deep-rooted tradition and an equal measure of modernity,&rdquo; to which Gavaskar added, &ldquo;Having played cricket and badminton here for hours the memories of those who are no longer with us, truly reflects what Bombay Gymkhana stands for.&rdquo;

&ldquo;On August 29 and 30, siblings can sign up for a special one-hour shooting experience as part of our <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/lifestyle/culture/video/raksha-bandhan-2025-explore-unique-rakhis-at-mumbais-local-markets-1078894" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Raksha Bandhan</a> deal. The session will begin with a briefing on basic safety and handling the equipment, followed by around 30 to 40 shots per person. With Raksha Bandhan here, the Rotaract Club of Nasik Youth Force is marking the occasion by sending a little piece of home to India&rsquo;s soldiers.

&ldquo;We reached out to Rotaract clubs across India and asked members to write short letters for the men serving our country. Since this was our first such initiative, the response was incredibly overwhelming. We collected over 100 letters, travelled to Devlali and tied rakhis to the soldiers as a gesture of gratitude,&rdquo; shared Khushi Jayprakash Lahoti, president of the club.
