<h2>Canvassing for change</h2>
<p>If you haven&rsquo;t heard about the late iconic painter VS Gaitonde, it might not be entirely your fault. For years now, the signboard marking the Chitrakar Vasudeo Gaitonde Chowk in Girgaon had been in a dilapidated state. Thanks to a determined group of Mumbaikars, the sign was reinstated right in time for the artist&rsquo;s birth anniversary on November 2.</p>

<p>We got a lowdown of the efforts from Kamna Anand, who ushered in the change, assisted by corporator Snehal Tendulkar and her husband Gaurav Tendulkar. &ldquo;In 2019, my mother Daulat Jehangir visited an exhibition of Gaitonde&rsquo;s works at the Jehangir Nicholson Art Gallery. It reminded her of the old sign at the chowk, which was already wearing off.</p>
<p>The COVID pandemic put us on the backfoot, and soon the sign disappeared. The artist&rsquo;s 102nd birth anniversary seemed like the right time to revisit the idea. Lest the city forgets the masters that once walked its streets.&rdquo;</p>
<h2>Poppy kehte hain...</h2>

<p>Bandra&rsquo;s diet-conscious ways spare nobody, not even Poppy, the resident cat at Pali Mala Road&rsquo;s Pause Caf&eacute;. Recently, the feline had earned a reputation for happily accepting a surplus of treats from patrons. Well, not anymore. During our visit earlier this week, we spotted a poster with a message from Poppy: &ldquo;Don&rsquo;t fall for my sad eyes! I&rsquo;m already gaining weight, and a girl likes to stay fit... Your love means the world to me. Just keep me healthy.&rdquo; While we have our suspicions if Poppy really said all of that, if it helps the feline stay fit, we&rsquo;ll roll with it. Pilates on Saturday, Poppy?</p>

<p><a href="https://www.mid-day.com/lifestyle/culture/article/dj-martin-garrix-returns-to-india-for-a-10-city-tour-in-march-2027-check-all-the-details-here-23658582" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Dutch EDM musician Martin Garrix</a> (below) has signed himself up for some deja vu with his latest announcement. Last seen in the city during a Holi concert in 2023, Garrix will return to Mumbai as part of a 10-city show just in time for Holi 2027. &ldquo;So happy to finally be back for these 10 shows! &nbsp;Gonna be CRAZY. I missed you guys!&rdquo; Garrix wrote on social media. We totally get the hype, Martin.</p>
<h2>Let&rsquo;s dance with pride</h2>

<p>Mumbai&rsquo;s Pride countdown is getting a beat! LGBTQiA+ collective Yaariyan is calling on queer folk and allies to join preparations for its annual flashmob. The plan is to bring the city alive with colour, movement and community spirit as the city gears up for the Pride month. Performers and participants above 18 are welcome. The rehearsals will be held on Saturdays and Sundays. To register, log on to @yaariyan_lgbtq.</p>
