On a recent weekend getaway, en route, this diarist spotted a few people selling what appeared to be liquor in alcohol bottles, placed right in the middle of the road.
However, on checking with the sellers, we learnt that the bottles contained honey. We spotted at least four such temporary shops along the highway. You might not buy it but they sure make for a quirky Insta feed, don&rsquo;t they?
This Operawala will sing for charity Here&rsquo;s some news that will delight lovers of Opera. Vocalist Oscar Castellino, and pianist Nadine Crasto (both trained in London) will perform operatic pieces to raise funds for students of St Xavier&rsquo;s College in Mumbai, who belong to disadvantaged backgrounds, to enable them to pursue higher education. This concert is a part of the Operawala Tour of India, organised by the Italian Cultural Centre and supported by Furtados.

&ldquo;I wanted to promote the Opera in India. I believe that that this kind of music can be suited to the Indian ear,&rdquo; reasons Castellino. The concert will feature operas sung in Italian, French and Napolitana, and will take place in the college Chapel tomorrow, 1.30 pm onwards.
&ldquo;Being an alumnus of Xavier&rsquo;s, I wanted to do something for the college and so, this one will be a charity show. Since we are addressing students, I will take them through how to appreciate the music even if you don&rsquo;t understand the words,&rdquo; Castellino adds.
The month-long tour is spread over multiple venues in Goa, Mysore and Pune, apart from Mumbai. Don&rsquo;t miss out if you&rsquo;d like to do your bit for the cause and watch this Bombaywala sing the Opera.

The Western India Automobile Association (WIAA) will hold its annual women&rsquo;s car rally on March 6. The event will be flagged off from Sahara Star, Mumbai, and end at Aamby Valley. Last year, 200 cars and 800 women participated.
This year, 165 entries have come in so far. The rally revolves around women&rsquo;s empowerment and the theme is, Be Strong Be Safe. Keen women drivers had better get into fifth gear because the last date for entries is February 27.
