Fashion and feminism
Last Friday, The Ladies Finger and Godrej India Culture Lab collaborated with an upcoming fashion week for an event, titled Feminism and Fashion — Navigating a Knotty Terrain. The discussion centred on feminism and fashion and explored the changes in the fashion world as it becomes more conscious of feminist issues. Some of the most well-known women in the country, across professions and interests, were in attendance. The power-packed panel itself was a veritable who’s who — spoken word artist Sharanya Manivannan, fashion designer Anita Dongre, Instagram sensation Mallika Dua, craft revivalist Laila Tyabji and The Ladies’ Finger founder, Nisha Susan, who was moderator for the evening. The discussion was followed by an art exhibit in which fashion stylist and blogger Pallavi Datta re-imagined women characters from Premchand’s work.
