Starry sidelights In case film stars seem to be much of the same thing, glitter and gloss, well they can be good for a laugh too. This was evident at the football league press conference yesterday where Abhishek Bachchan held forth on the fun of footer. One of the reporters there asked to what extent he had been involved in selecting the fabric of the jerseys for his team.

Well, maybe the journo had designs on Junior B, but he answered the question with a standard reply. The next sartorial question however was a humdinger a reporter asked why, when the press meet was about football, he was wearing a formal shirt and blazer. &ldquo;Why, do you want me to strip and change into the jersey?&rdquo; he quipped. He did in fact take off the jacket, and put the jersey on over his shirt.
Next came a rather predictable question someone asked what he thought about the prime minister&rsquo;s cleanliness challenge to his dad, Amitabh Bachchan. Abhishek calmly said, &ldquo;You&rsquo;ve got the wrong guy. I&rsquo;m Abhishek, not Amitabh.&rdquo;
Play for a cause Bollywood actress Neetu Chandra will be staging a Hindi play, Umrao, at the Rangsharda auditorium in Bandra, tomorrow evening. What makes this play different is the fact that proceeds from the show will go towards funding and assistance in the treatment of cancer-affected women, and a corpus is to be created to help such women live life with dignity.
The play, an adaptation of the well-known Urdu novel Umrao Jaan Ada by Mirza Muhammed Hadi Ruswa, is produced by Aarambh and directed by Hidayat Sami. Chandra has been a supporter of the Cancer Patients&rsquo; Aid Association (CPAA) for the last seven years.

Queen of the night This year&rsquo;s Kojagiri Purnima was rather special, as we were able to see a lunar eclipse, and the moon was also luminously red. Called the Hunter&rsquo;s Moon in the northern hemisphere, it is also termed a Blood Moon.

We dug around a little and discovered that one reason for this ominous-sounding term is that this is one of the full moons in a tetrad four successive total lunar eclipses, with no partial lunar eclipses in between.
The eclipses are six lunar months (six full moons) apart. October 8 was the second in this current tetrad, and apparently there is a Biblical prophecy associated with it too.
Will we see the end of the world at the end of this tetrad (September 2015), some wonder. We don&rsquo;t know, but meanwhile the moon is nice to gaze at, not to mention write poems and songs about.
The luck of the cab For first-time corporator Arvind Dudhwadkar of the Shiv Sena, now a candidate for the Malabar Hill assembly seat against the sitting MLA, BJP&rsquo;s Mangalprabhat Lodha, a cab is his lucky mascot. To be precise, it is a &ldquo;cool cab&rdquo; which he used while campaigning for the municipal elections.

The cab driver has been associating with Dudhwadkar since childhood, as they were schoolmates, and for Dudhwadkar, his pal and the taxi are both lucky. He had won his civic seat after campaigning from this cab and has maintained that these same four wheels will carry him around for his assembly campaign, right down to filing his candidature form.
