Deserted in Dahisar This platform is meant to accommodate the 15-car rakes which go up to Dahanu and sometimes stop at Dahisar, but now it has become overgrown with grass and weeds.

No one looking at it would imagine that it is a platform in use. The signboards have become so rusty that one can’t even tell which station it is. And now, schoolboys have taken to hanging out on the benches there. Trains what trains?
Mars bar Whatsapp wags are pointing out that the cost of the Mangalyaan expedition worked out to about Rs 11.25 per km even less than the average auto-rickshaw fare in the city!
It Paes to support Hamilton! India tennis ace Leander Paes’ was among the special invitees to the Paddock Lounge at the weekend’s Singapore F1 Grand Prix where he had the privilege to meet Singapore prime minister Lee Hsien Loong and even exchange some Formula One notes with the sport’s owner Bernie Ecclestone.

Paes was supporting the Mercedes team and fortunately for him, it was the German team that won the Formula One calendar’s only night race. Lewis Hamilton won at the Marina Bay Street Circuit and replaced his teammate Nico Rosberg atop the F1 World Championship points table for the first time this season.

“I think Lewis winning here makes the season a lot more interesting. I’m very happy to witness Lewis win this one,” Paes told mid-day later.
Matter of waste This paper did a story early in the week about how Mumbaikars are finding it difficult to differentiate between wet and dry waste. In fact, even the bins themselves are schizophrenic, as we found out! Outside Andheri station (W), near the two McDonalds outlets, are two litterbins, and the one near the new McDonalds has the “wet” and “dry” waste options.
These two bins are correctly categorized
However, the one on the opposite road near the subway has two bins which both read “wet waste”. The municipality seems to have placed the wrong markers, as the grey bin and orange-green bin colours are right, but the labels are incorrect.
This is what people ask when these litter bins near Andheri (W) subway outside the station reads wet and wet
Looking at the bin, we could only think of 1980s Scottish soft rock band Wet Wet Wet, since the authorities seem to prefer wet over dry for the litterbins if these are anything to go by.
Coffee clubs and movie dubs At A hip coffee outlet in Andheri West, where aspiring film entrants hang out due to its proximity and popularity with the silver-screen set, we overheard one seasoned resident of the area remark: “Yahaan toh har table par ek picture ban jaata hai.” (Here, a movie is made at every table.)
Well, we don’t know whether that is literally true or not, but certain key localities and hangouts are useful to know, if only for the dubious benefit of being seen maybe by someone with actual film connections, or maybe just by the public.
After all, the constituency is the same even when you do get into films it’s the public which makes or breaks your career. With a little help from the media of course, and we also hear that they don’t hang out at this particular joint. Guess mediawallahs’ star level is a little higher than a corner coffee joint, no matter how swank!
