Political salvo Mumbai's Kashish film festival for the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender (LGBT) community opens tomorrow at the Liberty Theatre, Marine Lines with a politically charged movie called Out in the Dark. The movie is described by critics as &ldquo;bold and daunting&rdquo;.

&ldquo;It is a simple love story of two men, is made complex by history, law, religion, family values and the boundaries that separate nations and minds. But more than anything else it is a story that emphasizes that there is always hope if one dares to dream,&rdquo; said Sridhar Rangayan, festival director.
The taut 96-minute feature film should interest those who are becoming increasingly aware of how the Israel-Palestine problem is throwing its shadow over the world and in India too. Mumbaikars are becoming more aware of this dispute as their city is caught in the vortex of international terrorism.
Adoption is f(el)ine, but... Recently, Yuva Sena chief Aaditya Thackeray, also known as the tiger cub, adopted a five-year-old tiger at the Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP).
The cage that serves as a home for the animal will sport the name of Aaditya and he will get to meet the animal at least once a week.
While this is all very well, we think the celebrated and the famous should also speak out loud and clear about tiger conservation, so that the big cats can benefit even more with big names throwing their weight behind this cause. That would meet with an even bigger roar of approval.
The family that plays together... For all the cribbing that there are not enough open spaces in the city, and that our children spend too much time on screens and not enough playing outdoors&hellip; well, here&rsquo;s an answer.
Event company I-Deators and online portal The Metrogenome have come together to encourage use of open spaces en famille. And they have chosen one of the city&rsquo;s iconic spots, the Mahalaxmi racecourse, for this.
The two firms are hosting, on Sunday, June 1, an event called &ldquo;Come Out And Play&rdquo;, where families in teams of four members can participate in games, and win prizes too.
Games from our childhood such as sack race, lemon-and-spoon race and &ldquo;langdi&rdquo; are being planned, so it sounds like spectators will be entertained as well.

All the MBA and marketing gurus out there should see this for a one-stop lesson in how to win customers and keep them. Incidentally, since we were at the pump to use their services, we can confidently say that the lack of staff had no adverse effect on our experience there at all. Friends of Tuesday Tales were quick to suggest that similarly zealous activists in Mumbai could follow suit, and given the large number of potholes indeed, entire flower beds! which mid-day has been highlighting in its campaign, we see immense potential for local neighbourhood gardens to sprout. And if you are worried that the pretty flowers may get damaged by traffic, don&rsquo;t be. In any case, motorists have to take detours around the potholes and ditches in the roads, so they will just drive around the plants the same way!
