“Though my book is about my experiences of India as a journalist, the first chapter is about the treatment of women, I chose to write about being abused as a child only because I didn’t want to sweep it under the carpet and be pseudo when I was talking about the kind of things women go through in this country,” she revealed.
She also recounted her encounter with Rahul Gandhi where she told him that he couldn’t speak about empowerment if he believed in dynasty politics, the opposite of empowerment. ...Meanwhile in Kolkata It’s clearly a case of one, two many (pun intended). In the City of Joy, another edition of the Kolkata Literary Meet began on January 21.

The six-day literary festival will see the likes of Amartya Sen, Ruskin Bond, Devdutt Pattanaik, Amitav Ghosh, Javed Akhtar, Amish Tripathi, Rajdeep Sardesai, Imtiaz Ali, Najam Sethi, Jairam Ramesh, Nayantara Sehgal and Barkha Dutt drop in.
The inauguration witnessed an enthralling performance of Rabindranath Tagore’s Kabuliwalah in Pashto by students of Kabul University. This was followed by a discussion on history and fiction with noted author Amitav Ghosh.
Supriya Chaudhuri, an English scholar, and Mukul Kesavan, noted historian, also made interesting contributions to the discussion spearheaded by Jayanta Sengupta. Busy time to be an author, no?
Mallika’s got a music video Usually flitting between LA, India (and the Cannes), guess what Mallika Sherawat’s been up to? It seems she's been busy sunbathing on the beaches of Goa where she recently shot for a music video.

Out now, the single, Dil Kya Kare (Did I Love You?), marks the debut of 21-year-old USA-based R&B/Pop artiste Amrit Dasu aka DASU. Co-written and produced by Rishi Rich, and released by Universal Music, the song speaks of love and longing, and even laces in a sample of Kishore Kumar’s timeless hit, Dil Kya Kare (Julie, 1975) in female voice.
We’re still to make up our minds about the number but the video has some classy frames. Our pick: the one with Ms Sherawat decked up in a flowing red gown, twirling in a swimming pool.
