When words bloom into images, a book launch becomes a small act of wonder. Poet Devangana Mishra will launch her poetry and art book, Desierto Florido, at Method, Kala Ghoda, on July 14. The collection features poems including Birthing a Lyric, The Warm-er Side, and The Other Side, which explore themes of identity, memory and self-discovery. Reflecting on the book, Mishra said, &ldquo;My hope is to keep poetry alive, to keep imagination upbeat and dynamic, to keep writing fashionable in a time of machine made words, and keep the sense of child-like wonder alive.&rdquo; The evening, titled Art in a World Made in Stone, includes poetry and conversations, while highlighting Mumbai&rsquo;s lasting influence on her writing and artistic journey.

A fresh look can make a familiar-looking packaging feel brand new. That idea inspired Malad-based illustrator Siddhant Dumbre to reimagine Havmor&rsquo;s <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/lifestyle/food/article/mumbais-k-rustoms-mango-sandwich-features-on-100-most-iconic-ice-creams-list-in-the-world-23583871" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">ice cream sandwich</a> packaging with a bold, contemporary aesthetic. &ldquo;I&rsquo;ve always liked illustrative and more expressive packaging. A lot of FMCG brands do that sometimes. I saw Havmor&rsquo;s ice cream sandwich packaging had only the ice cream sandwich image shown, which is probably good according to graphic design, but I noticed a lot of space to play around with,&rdquo; Dumbre told this diarist. The redesign was inspired by creator @shireendoesart. Next, he plans to rework beer, cider and mixer packaging, believing alcohol brands are generally more receptive to expressive packaging than other FMCG segments.

<h2>German go-ahead</h2>

What if 20 plastic bottles could buy someone a hot meal? That idea inspired 27-year-old Shakti Yadav to launch Buy Food for Plastic, a Bhandup-based organisation that exchanges plastic bottles for meals while recycling the waste into sustainable products. On the initiative gaining recognition in Germany, Yadav added, &ldquo;It was pure coincidence that ARD, Germany&rsquo;s public broadcasting network, acknowledged us for this work. They reached out to us over Instagram, had a look at our manufacturing unit; who knows, maybe, we could end up bringing German technology to India.&rdquo;

As rumours of a fresh Power Rangers reboot reignite nostalgia online, Raj Pathare and eight other <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sunday-mid-day/article/dress-to-thrill-23513992" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">cosplay artists</a> from Mumbai and Navi Mumbai reunited for a nostalgic photoshoot in Ulwe, dressing as rangers from across the franchise. &ldquo;A friend and I tried cosplaying as Power Rangers recently during Mumbai Comic Con, and that&rsquo;s where the idea clicked. A few fans came together and we all dressed up as the rangers from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (1993), Power Rangers Dino Thunder (2004) and Power Rangers Ninja Storm (2003),&rdquo; said Pathare.&nbsp;

Speaking about the reboot, he shared that the recent series lost much of its original charm and hopes the new version recaptures the nostalgia, particularly through its visual effects.&nbsp;
