<h2>Hooked for the catch</h2>

<h2>Spidey snacks, assemble</h2>
With Spider-Man: Brand New Day swinging into cinemas on July 30, fans turned up in style. Among them was Saurabh Singh Rawat, a metal sculptor and owner of MetalBender Studios in Andheri, who designed custom Spider-Man-themed popcorn and soft drink holders for the screening.

One holder was modelled on the superhero&rsquo;s iconic mask, while the other recreated his web-shooter and signature hand gesture, drawing curious glances from the fans before the film even began.

&ldquo;I made the holders using 3D printing and PETG, a highly durable, chemical-resistant thermoplastic. It came together quite easily, but I wasn&rsquo;t expecting such a great response from people inside the theatre,&rdquo; said Rawat, whose creations quickly became a hit among the Spidey fans in the movie theatre.
<h2>A room to be silly and creative again</h2>

What do you want to be when you grow up?&rdquo; It&rsquo;s a question most of us are asked as children, usually with the expectation of a single answer. At The Drawing Room Project, a month-old community art space in Goregaon East, that question is left unanswered. Housed in founder Prathama Saini&rsquo;s childhood home, the 2BHK has transformed into a workshop studio, an intimate performance venue and an independent gallery.

From &ldquo;bad drawing parties&rdquo; and fine art sessions to clay workshops, zine-making, open mics,<a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mid-day-anniversary-this-sound-checks-out-23642492" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener"> live music</a> and intimate theatre, the space celebrates creativity without pressure. &ldquo;I wanted to create a space where people could try anything artistically, without worrying about being good at it. Here, I want people to be curious, and be gracefully bad at things,&rdquo; said Saini.
<h2>Big box of LEGOs</h2>

How long does it take to put together 7,38,000 bricks of LEGO? For Ritam Bhatnagar and co, it was 30 days. Bhatnagar set a Guinness World Record when he created the mosaic at the city&rsquo;s first <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/lifestyle/culture/article/lego-group-opens-its-first-lego-certified-store-in-mumbai-check-location-and-everything-unique-23642017" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">LEGO store</a> in Ghatkopar. &ldquo;I had previously worked on LEGO installations in Gurgaon and Bengaluru, but those were smaller,&rdquo; Bhatnagar shared.

The entrepreneur decided to create a moving cube featuring distinct aspects of Mumbai; from its movies, skyline, to the beaches and trains. &ldquo;The previous record for a LEGO mosaic was at 45 sqm. &ldquo;We extended it to 47 sqm,&rdquo; Bhatnagar told this diarist. Finding a square inch space in Mumbai deserves a record, we&rsquo;d say.
<h2>Through Eunice&rsquo;s eyes</h2>

Don&rsquo;t look for my life in these poems. Poems have order, sanity, aesthetic distance from debris,&rdquo; wrote Eunice de Souza. Decades later, her words invite readers to look a little closer. This Poetry Day (August 1), St Xavier&rsquo;s College Library celebrates the poet, professor and literary scholar with a performance that reimagines the six stages of life through her verses.

&ldquo;Rather than reading Eunice&rsquo;s poems, we wanted students to inhabit them and explore emotions, humour and vulnerability within her work,&rdquo; said Rashmi Lee George, convenor of the Library Committee. The performance features students Justin Peter Knight, Eshwari Kamble, Siya Devikar, Aditi Arya, Esther D&rsquo;Souza, Gaurang Gomes, Jason Augustine, Kuhana Rajan, Nandini Raval, Nathan Furtado, Ishita Dasgupta, and Siya Mittal as the celebration unfolds at the Multi-Media Room, St Xavier&rsquo;s College.
