After Rhythm House When mid-day broke the news last November about SoBo&rsquo;s most loved music store, Rhythm House, shutting shop, we wondered what would become of theatre lovers who called the store to book the best seats in the house for some of the largest classical music and drama productions.

Nita Daru, 65, a gentle lady who sat for over three decades in a corner of the store, was your go-to person if you were looking to reserve seats. For theatrewallahs, Daru would help bag licences and permissions required to stage a production.

A day after the store shuttered, we learnt that Daru is now housed at Tejpal Auditorium near August Kranti Maidan, from 9 am to 12 noon, and back from 4 pm to 7 pm. &ldquo;This is a temporary arrangement,&rdquo; she told this diarist. She&rsquo;d rather find a spot back at Kala Ghoda or Fort, centrally located and home to the music and theatre-loving communities.
Daru, once a young door-to-door salesgirl, took on the job at Rhythm House when her brother, who performed the role before her, took ill. The music store owned by the Curmallys has been second home to Daru since 1982. &ldquo;I need to sustain myself and the family,&rdquo; says Daru, who is the only earning member and has a differently-abled sister to care for.
&ldquo;Rhythm House was my soul and heart; I miss sitting there. I feel my home has been taken away, but life must goes on.&rdquo; We doubt there will come a better opportunity for some of the city&rsquo;s influential culturati to step in and play Santa.

That both Sadhguru and Sabya are articulate speakers means the gathering might just be treated to an engaging exchange, but the designer was nevertheless puzzled to receive an invitation to participate in a Mahashivratri celebration this weekend at the Ishayoga ashram in the foothills of Velliangiri, Coimbatore.

These marathoners will run through six Indian states winding up at the Gateway of India on July 20, thereby creating India&rsquo;s first-ever multi-city ultra marathon, The Great India Run.
