Maheshwari musings It&rsquo;s such news that makes us smile, and wish there were more. Weaves of Maheshwar, a National Award-winning film by Storyloom Films looks at the revival of this textile weave through the eyes of its weavers and others who made it possible.

Now, the film will be screened next week at Kala Ghoda&rsquo;s ARTISANS&rsquo; Centre. It portrays the strength of Indian textiles, and how the weave, with its origins in the riverside town of Maheshwar in Madhya Pradesh, has been playing a significant role in history.
The film travels from 2012 to 2015 where more than 200 weavers, including the younger generation, had migrated to Maheshwar due to the rising opportunity in the handloom sector, largely from Barabanki in Uttar Pradesh. This was considered unusual in a sector seeing a major decline. The film also won the Rajat Kamal for Best Promotional Film at the 63rd National Film Awards. Don&rsquo;t miss this one.
