One down, one to go On March 1, we reported how Worli&rsquo;s Venus complex had turned into Planet of the Apes. There was relief for residents when on April 13, a private monkey catcher hired by them caught one of the monkeys terrorising them.

Ashit Sheth, a resident, says, &ldquo;We managed to get in touch with the Forest Department who suggested this private catcher. He set up the cage and caught one of the monkeys in two hours. The Forest Department was called to take the monkey, but due to some puncture to their vehicle, could not make it.&rdquo;
The catcher personally handed the monkey over to the Forest Department who released it in the forest at Ghodbunder. Sheth adds, &ldquo;The monkey was too aggressive and damaged the automatic cage. The monkey catcher is currently repairing it and will be back to catch the other monkey. We will then sort out the accounts.&rdquo;
The sound of patriotism AMID the hustle bustle of the daily train commute, we discovered this senior citizen seated calmly by the window listening to an instrumental version of the National Anthem. The video featured many greats of Indian classical music with notes being played on the sitar, the tabla, the flute and the santoor to name a few.

While this diarist could not hear the National Anthem from the senior citizen&rsquo;s phone, the visuals displayed on the phone were enough to rouse a patriotic feeling. In this day and age where item numbers and racy Bollywood tracks are the popular songs and videos on playlists, it was heart-warming to see the National Anthem on a list too. We salute this gentleman.
Track off track All ye walkers and joggers be warned. This Saturday and Sunday evening, April 18 and 19 to be precise, the Mahalaxmi racecourse will be out of bounds for walkers and joggers. The night racing trials (racing from 5 pm to 8.15 pm) is on the cards and for those purposes, weekend exercisers will need to get their cardio fix elsewhere.

The track will be used for the four-legged fleet and not the two-legged. The night racing is a trial initiative for two days. Depending on the success, it may become a regular feature on Saturdays for the next Mumbai season beginning in November this year.
So regulars, who were planning to get their weekend of sweat at the racecourse you have advance warning, now. Take your footfalls elsewhere, please, this time it is reserved for the horses.
