<p>House clean-ups can lead to some lovely discoveries, as musician Ehsaan Noorani (inset) found out this week. The composer came across an old hard drive with a VCD &mdash; remember those? &mdash; recording &nbsp;of a performance from the 1980s. It features him performing as part of Louiz Banks and The Hoods, alongside Ranjit Barot, the late Pam Crain, Donald Saigal and Banks himself. Music lovers of a certain vintage will remember the band for its jazz and blues playlist. Noorani shared on social media a clip from the video, shot by Banks. &ldquo;This was a show in Bandra back in 1989, called the concert of Santa Anna. I think it was at the St Stanislaus ground,&rdquo; he said. With his slicked-back hair, rolled-up jacket sleeves, the guitarist aced the 1980s&rsquo; rockstar look. &ldquo;It is fun to go through old memories,&rdquo; he shared.</p>
<h2>Sushi, success and more</h2>

<p>Harry Hakuei Kosato, also known as the sushi man of India, has taken up the pen for his book Oxford Success Principles - 10 Principles of Driving Success in Life. Kosato is the founder of the multi-city chain Sushi &amp; More, and also happens to be the brand ambassador for Kikkoman Soy Sauce in India. The book, he told us, draws inspiration from his experience in India. Written in Japanese, the book is currently available only in Japan. &ldquo;Mumbai has been a big part of my business journey and I have elaborated on my time, and my former days spent here,&rdquo; he shared with this diarist. &ldquo;My principles of success include enjoying the process of learning every day. It is a lifelong journey,&rdquo; he noted. Another principle that the sushi-maker swears by is the importance of using all 24 hours of your day. &ldquo;The art of doing is important to move on in life,&rdquo; said Kosato, who is known to be a multi-tasker. &ldquo;If you divide your time well and focus deeply, you can do more than one thing. I like the word &lsquo;multipotentialite&rsquo; &mdash; someone who can do more than one thing and is, in fact, amazing at two or more completely different fields,&rdquo; he noted. We will be waiting for an English version of the book for more tips.</p>
<h2>To stay alive and kicking</h2>

<p>Mumbai-based trans activist and founder of the equity and empowerment trust, Tweet Foundation, Abhina Aher recently joined hands with the Geneva-based non-profit Global Fund. Dedicated to healthcare, the fund is effecting a worldwide movement to fight tuberculosis (TB), HIV and malaria. Aher noted that the resources are essential to save lives. &ldquo;The Global Fund, under its seventh replenishment, aims to save more than 50 million lives affected by these diseases. As part of Global Fund Advocates Network Asia-Pacific, I received the opportunity to champion #fightforwhatitcounts. When representing LGBTQiA+ identities on panel discussions, I will also share my experiences as a marginalised individual living with TB,&rdquo; she revealed.</p>
<h2>An artistic winter returns to Goa</h2>

<p>After holding virtual editions for two years which included a digital festival and DIY series, the Serendipity Arts Festival is set to return to its physical format this December. The fifth edition of the festival will take place between December 15 and 23. In addition to a diverse repertoire of artistic performances, the arts festival will bring back multiple art events across genres in the span of a week. Smriti Rajgarhia, director of the festival, told us, &ldquo;We are presenting a line-up of immersive and interdisciplinary programmes conceptualised by a panel of curators spanning the performing, visual and culinary arts and crafts.&rdquo; Rajgarhia added that the festival is an attempt to drive and invite public engagement with the arts. &ldquo;The festival is inclusive in nature and will be open to the public, challenging them at large to push beyond accepted notions and conventions in arts and culture.&rdquo;</p>
<h2>Portraits of timeless art</h2>

<p>Art from the past, present and future will merge at auction house Astaguru. Titled Present Future and Modern Treasures, two separate auctions of works by master painters such as Ganesh Pyne, Ram Kumar, Jogen Chowdhury and others, go under the hammer on September 22 to 23, and September 25 to 26, respectively. Sneha Gautam, vice president, client relations, shared that the artworks include a six-feet oil on canvas work by Tyeb Mehta from his diagonal series, Safdar Hashmi by MF Husain &mdash; created on the day of the playwright&rsquo;s death in 1989, and a century-old oil on canvas by MV Dhurandhar. &ldquo;The auctions offer insight into the metamorphosis of Indian art,&rdquo; Gautam added.</p><p>
