Rainbow in Dharavi A ride through the bleak lanes of Dharavi usually provides very little relief to the eyes. Hence this splash of colour on one of the buildings, in the form of street art, took one by pleasant surprise.

Selfie, please The firang fascination or the foreign fascination. Many Indian men, for some perplexing reason, are still in awe of Barbie-doll looks, blue-eyed, golden-haired babes.
That explains why several men were traipsing after foreign women who had participated in the model physique section of the World Body Building Championships which ended at Goregaon yesterday.
These women, who are obviously in awesome shape, were walking around the venue in the teeniest denim shorts (if you&rsquo;ve got it, flaunt it) and tight t-shirts. Most of them sportingly posed as the men took pictures with them on their mobile phones.
They kept a safe distance, though, after taking a look at the biceps on the women, many of who were in sexy racer-back tees. The competitors seemed a little bewildered and amused at all the attention. Anyway, guys and gals just wanna have fun.
Raising voices and consciousness It's not just one day women&rsquo;s and human rights organisations campaign every single day against oppression and subjugation.
And today, Women Networking is marking the culmination of 16 days of activism on the campaign Against Violence Against Women(Nov 25 UN Day against violence against women, to Dec 10 &ndash; International Human Rights Day).
Women Networking is an informal network of various women&rsquo;s groups, community organisations and interested individuals, to provide a platform to address women&rsquo;s issues.
Today&rsquo;s programme begins at 3pm, at the YWCA, JP Road, Andheri West, and includes an address by Dr Chhaya Datar, social activist and former Women&rsquo;s Studies head at TISS; Release of the findings of police and community surveys by Dy Police Commissioner (Enforcement) Pravinkumar Patil; and staging of Say No, Accept No, a play by Men Against Violence and Abuse (MAVA).
Peace, love and poetry The Mumbai Tibetan Sweater Sellers Association and the non-governmental organisation Friends of Tibet are holding a prayer meeting, 9am onwards today, to celebrate both World Human Rights Day (December 10) and the 25th anniversary of His Holiness the Dalai Lama being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

More than 200 Tibetans, who live in the city, will gather bright and early at Sharda Hall, behind the Dadar Fire Brigade, in Dadar East. The event is even more special, since it will be a chance to meet the famous Tibetan poet-activist, Tenzin Tsundue.
Art from the mountains If you thought the Himalayas are all about snow-capped peaks and conquering them, well get to the art of the matter, if you&rsquo;ll pardon us the tired old pun.
Asian art historian and scholar Dr Pratapaditya Pal will give an illustrated lecture on Collecting Himalayan Art in India, at 6pm today at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (the Prince of Wales Museum). The lecture is free, and open to all. So don&rsquo;t miss a chance to brush up on your art knowledge.
It may help you if you decide to take part in the Pundole auction of Art of the Himalayas from the Collection of Roshan Sabavala on December 16.
A note from the gallery says that Dr Pal (who was awarded the Padma Shri in 2009 for his contribution to the sphere of art) and the Sabavala family shared a strong bond that traversed their professional and personal interests, as both worked at Marg Publications for several years together, a relationship that led to a deep lifelong friendship.
The talk thus provides a wonderful opportunity for both first-time collectors as well as seasoned connoisseurs to interact with a legend of the Indian art world.
