Nirmal Nagar police officials are suspicious of a Khar-based doctor&rsquo;s claims after he filed a complaint stating his house was burgled of valuables worth Rs 25 lakh and property documents on Tuesday.

Police said that the doctor has concocted the story, since his property is under litigation and the robbery ploy would help him in court, as the property documents have been stolen.
The complainant has been identified as Dr Santosh Tiwari, who resides in Khar (East) and has a clinic in the vicinity. According to him, his residence was burgled when he was at his clinic on Tuesday afternoon. Dr Tiwari said, &ldquo;I received a call from my brother that our house had been burgled. I first thought it was a prank.
When I reached home, I was shocked to see that the door lock was detached and the cupboard locker was broken open.&rdquo; Tiwari resides with his parents, wife, children and brother in the house.
&ldquo;When I went to the police to register a case after the panchnama was conducted, the police officials mentioned in the FIR that only R4 lakh worth valuables were stolen.
I told them valuables, comprising gold, diamonds, silver and cash worth R25 lakh is missing. They then asked for a receipt for the ornaments. How can I produce a receipt for goods that are several years old,&rdquo; said Tiwari.
When asked if he suspected the involvement of any known persons, Tiwari said it looks like the work of some professional burglars. Nirmal Nagar police officials said that a complaint had been lodged, but hinted at loopholes in Tiwari&rsquo;s version.
&ldquo;Firstly, no burglar will steal documents as it is of no use to him. When we made inquiries, we found that the doctor is in a tiff with one of his family members over the possession of the flat where they reside,&rdquo; said Ashok Borse, senior police inspector.
Borse further said, &ldquo;Though we have registered an FIR in the case, based on the doctor&rsquo;s statement, there is a strong indication that the burglary might have not even taken place.
The investigations are currently ongoing. We will get a clear picture in a day or two.&rdquo; Borse even said that if the complainant is found guilty of lodging a false case, they will register an FIR against him.
