A routine hospital visit for a mother and her eight-year-old daughter from Kandivli West led to the exposure of an alleged sexual assault after doctors at Shatabdi Hospital alerted police on July 23.

According to police, the mother took the child to the hospital’s emergency ward on the night of July 22 after she developed fever and blood in her urine. The doctor on duty advised a gynaecologist’s opinion. After examining the child the next morning, gynaecologists suspected sexual assault and alerted Kandivli police.
