Stray dogs in Oswal Nagari of Nallasopara (east) yesterday morning were seen running on the streets with parts of human flesh in their mouths and this disturbing sight led locals to a four-month-old foetus wrapped in a black plastic bag and dumped in a garbage pit.

The people then shooed away the dogs, who were fighting over a bite of the foetus, and alerted the Tulinj police, which took custody of the foetus. The gender of the aborted child has not been determined and the foetus has been sent for post mortem.
