<a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/pm-modis-rally-in-mumbai-police-issues-traffic-advisory-around-shivaji-park-in-dadar-for-may-17-23349371" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Mumbai is expected to be hit by traffic snarls</a> on May 17 due to multiple events in different areas of the city, the police sources said on Thursday evening.
An official said that there area several important events in city on Friday, May 17 and hence a traffic advisory has been issued for commuters especially for those who plan to travel by air or have a train to catch on Friday.
The official said that on May 17, there is PM Modi's public rally at Shivaji Park in Dadar and there is an election event at MMRDA grounds in Bandra too. Moreover, there is an IPL match in Mumbai. All these events on the same day may led to traffic congestion in parts of the city.
In a traffic advisory, the police said, "On 17th May, there is public meeting at Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Park Ground and M.M.R.D.Ground (Pataka Ground), B.K.C. IPL match is going to be played at Wankhede Stadium. At all these places, large number of V.VI.P's., political party followers and match spectators will be present. So, there is possibility of traffic congestion. Therefore, to avoid traffic congestion on Marine Drive, Eastern Express Highway and&nbsp; Western Express Highway on 17th May 2024 from 10.00 hrs to midnight, there will be regulation of traffic. Passengers who are planning to travel by Air and Rail, please plan accordingly to avoid inconvenience."
For <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/pm-modi-roadshow-in-mumbai-for-lok-sabha-elections-2024-police-issues-traffic-advisory-for-parts-of-city-23349001" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">PM Modi</a>'s rally at Shivaji Park, many supporters and followers from all over Maharashtra are likely to be participate.
"A large number of vehicles are expected on the Western and Eastern Express Highway and traffic congestion is likely, especially on the road leading to the venue hence the traffic police has already planned traffic restrictions and diversions already," an official said.
The police had on Wednesday said that the vehicles coming from various areas shall drop the participants at the alignment point and proceed for parking at designated places as follows.
Western and Northern Suburbs: Vehicles coming from western and northern suburbs through Western Express Highway shall drop the participants on Senapati Bapat road between Mahim Railway station to Ruparel collage area and proceed for parking at Mahim Reti Bander, Kohinoor PPL Parking, India Bulls Finance center PPL parking, Kamagar Stadium and on Senapati Bapat Road, While Light Motor Vehicles can be park at India Bulls One center PPL parking.
Eastern Suburbs: Vehicles coming from Thane and Navi-Mumbai using Eastern Express Highway shall alight participants near Dadar T. T. Circle and proceed for parking towards Five Gardens, Matunga and R.A.K. 4 Roads.
Mumbai City and South Mumbai: - Vehicles coming from South Mumbai using Veer Savarkar Road shall alight participants at Ravindranath Natya Mandir and proceed for parking at India Bulls Finance centre PPL parking, Raheja PPL. Parking, Sudam Kalu ahire road, worli, Padurang Budhkar Marg Galxo Junction upto Kume Chowk, Sudam Kalu Ahire Road, worli, Narayan Hardikar Marg. Sacred Heart High School up to JK Kapur Chowk, similarly, Vehicles coming using B. A. Road shall drop the participants at Dadar T. T. Circle and proceed to parking at the designated parking place at Five Garden or R.A.K. 4 Road.
