Mumbai: Faulty welding suspected in Bhuleshwar Ganesh idol collapse

The Bhuleshwar Ganesh idol collapse that claimed two lives has prompted a police probe into the construction and installation of the structure, with investigators yet to fix responsibility for the tragedy. Prima facie, faulty welding appears to be one of the reasons behind the collapse, with the structure allegedly held from behind by just one metal piece, DCP (Zone II) Ragasudha R told mid-day.
