A fire broke out in a flat on the 5th floor of a building in Vidyavihar (West) area of Mumbai on Wednesday evening, civic officials said.

The blaze was reported in the Kohinoor City building on Peter Parera Road in Vidyavihar area, they said.


Following the incident the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) rushed to the spot and launched a fire-fighting operation.



The MFB declared the fire as a Level-II at 16:52 hrs.

"The incident was reported to control at 16:59 hrs. The fire was contained within the flat," said an official, adding that no injuries have been reported so far in the incident.

The official stated that the building has a total of eight floors above the ground. Agencies deployed at the scene included the Mumbai Fire Brigade, police, 108 ambulance services, the local electricity distribution staff, and BMC ward officials, ensuring safety and rapid containment.

"5 water wagons and 1 hydraulic ladder was rushed to the site for operations. The fire has been completely doused," said an official.

Meanwhile, in an another incident on Wednesday, a fire broke out at a building in Mumbai's Kurla area after gas pipeline leak, officials said on Wednesday afternoon, adding that no injuries were reported in the incident. 

The blaze was reported at the Mubarak Building, a ground-plus-four structure located behind the LIG Colony in Vinoba Bhave Nagar, Kurla (West), they said.

"Fire erupted on the ground floor of Mubarak building due to a Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) gas pipeline leak. The fire brigade rushed to the spot as soon as they were informed," said an official.

The incident was reported at 1:23 pm by the BMC’s Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB), said the officials.

According to officials, the fire started on the ground floor due to a leakage in an MGL gas pipeline. The MFB declared the incident as a Level 1 (minor) fire at 1:29 pm.

Emergency teams, including the MFB, police, MGL gas staff, a 108 ambulance, and ward staff, were immediately mobilised to the site.
