Mumbai Ganeshotsav 2026: Bappa to arrive on a rainy day

IMD’s Regional Meteorological Centre Mumbai has forecast thunderstorms, lightning, rain and gusty winds across Mumbai and its suburbs over the weekend. A yellow alert is in place, with isolated areas likely to receive very heavy rainfall and winds up to 70 kmph.

Expected wind-speed during weekend thunderstorms

In its weekly forecast the authority has announced that Saturday and Sunday will be seeing a yellow alert with Saturday seeing thunderstorms accompanied with lightning, light to moderate rainfall and gusty winds between 30 to 40 kmph.

The India Meteorological Department’s Regional Meteorological Centre Mumbai has forecast an active monsoon spell over the city and its suburbs over the next 48 hours. Sunday may bring thunderstorms accompanied with lighting, heavy rainfall and gusty winds between 40 to 50 kmph.
