<p>A woman died after she was allegedly run over by a train while crossing the railway tracks between Vaitarna and Virar, briefly disrupting <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-monsoon-mumbai-local-trains-delayed-due-to-operational-glitches-not-rains-say-officials-23637750" target="_blank" rel="none noopener"><strong>suburban rail services</strong></a>, officials said on Thursday.</p>
<p>According to railway officials, the incident occurred near kilometre marker 62/15, where the woman was struck by Train No. 59024 Valsad Passenger.</p>
<h2>Train detained for over 40 minutes</h2>
<p>Following the incident, the Valsad Passenger was detained from 8.25 am as railway staff from Virar rushed to the spot to carry out rescue and clearance operations.</p>
<p>After the body was removed from the tracks, the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/photo/in-photos-mumbai-monsoon-western-railway-ensures-uninterrupted-mumbai-local-train-services-amid-heavy-rains-111863" target="_blank" rel="none noopener"><strong>train resumed its journey</strong></a> at 9.07 am.</p>
<h2>Investigation underway</h2>
<p><a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-track-cave-in-sparks-questions-over-central-railways-monsoon-preparedness-23636715" target="_blank" rel="none noopener"><strong>Railway officials</strong></a> said the woman was allegedly crossing the tracks when the accident took place. Her identity was not immediately known.</p>
<p>Further investigation into the incident is underway.</p>
