The first of 39 six-car driverless trainsets for Mumbai Metro Lines 4 and 4A, connecting Wadala in central Mumbai to Kasarvadavali in Thane, was unveiled on Thursday. The train is expected to arrive in Mumbai in the first or second week of December 2026. However, with a dedicated carshed for the corridor at Mogharpada not yet available, the trains will be stationed at two existing depots — Mandale near Mankhurd and Kasheli on Metro Line 5.

Train manufacturer Alstom expects to ship the first trainset by November end. The journey to Mumbai is expected to take seven to 10 days.
