The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has intensified its cleaning drive at Juhu beach amid heavy rainfall and high tides, as waste washed into the Arabian Sea and brought back to the shore by tidal waves has increased the cleaning challenge.

The civic body’s solid waste management (SWM) department is removing around 180 metric tonnes of waste daily from Juhu beach. In the last 10 days, the BMC has collected and scientifically disposed of around 1,800 metric tonnes of waste from the beach.
