Mumbai weather alert: IMD upgrades city to orange alert; Thane, Palghar under red warning for heavy rainfall

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday afternoon upgraded Mumbai to an orange alert, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall along with strong winds of 50-60 kmph, gusting up to 70 kmph. Earlier in the day, the weather bureau had placed the city under a yellow alert.

For Friday, the IMD has downgraded Mumbai to a yellow alert, with heavy rainfall expected at isolated places.
