Mumbai, Konkan brace for extremely heavy rain as IMD issues red alert

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Mumbai and the Konkan region, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy spells at isolated places on Sunday as the active monsoon phase intensifies across Maharashtra.
In its weather bulletin issued at 1.12 pm on Sunday, the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Mumbai, said widespread rainfall activity is expected across the state over the next few days, with the highest intensity likely over the Konkan region and adjoining ghat areas.
