Mumbai recorded 142 incidents of trees and branches falling over the past 24 hours as strong winds of up to 75 kmph accompanied heavy monsoon showers, the BMC said. Nearly 10,000 civic personnel remained deployed across the city, while two people lost their lives in separate tree-fall incidents

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Sunday said Mumbai recorded 142 incidents of trees and branches falling over the past 24 hours as strong winds gusting between 72 and 75 kilometre per hour (kmph) swept across the city amid heavy monsoon showers.
The civic body said around 150 to 170 mm of rainfall was recorded across different parts of Mumbai during the 24-hour period ending 5 pm on Sunday. Despite the intense rainfall and a high tide of 4.19 metres recorded at 3.22 pm, normal life remained largely unaffected, with no reports of waterlogging in the city or suburbs, the civic body claimed.
