Mumbai: More traffic violation in 2020 than 2019, shows Traffic Police data

The traffic police officers have also revealed that due to increased nakabandis and vigilance in the year 2020, they were able to nab more traffic violators.

As per data released by Mumbai Traffic Police, Mumbai has seen more traffic violations in 2020 as compared to 2019, despite being in lockdown for over six months.
In 2020, 5,095,478 drivers had received challans for various traffic violations compared to the 4,938,485 violations in 2019. The traffic police had imposed penalties worth Rs 148.16 crore, of which 953,679 fines worth Rs 25.73 crore had been recovered, while 4,141,799 challans worth Rs 122.43 crore have remained unpaid last year, the data revealed. In 2019, there were unpaid challans worth Rs 102 crore, reports Hindustan Times.
