The wife of an advocate who died after a tree collapsed on him will get a job as a clerk with the Thane Municipal Corporation. She was to be given a compensation of R1 lakh, but had refused it and demanded a job, saying she had a son and in-laws to look after.

Kishore Pawar, 39, an advocate, was a resident of Namdev Wadi, Panchpakhadi, in Thane. On July 20, when he was riding his motorcycle, a tree fell on him near Uday Nagar society in Panchpakhadi. Locals took him to a private hospital. On July 22, he succumbed to his injuries.
Kishore's family includes his wife Priti, 32, son Lokesh, 6, and his parents. The family and locals protested against the TMC, as Kishore was the only earning member of the family; they claimed that they had complained about the dangerous tree to the authorities, but no action was taken.
"I reside with my son and in-laws and have to take care of them. We were totally dependent on Kishore. After we protested against the corporation, they assured us a compensation of Rs 1 lakh. But we refused it... The amount would have barely been enough for a few months; I have to think about the future of my son," said Priti.
Priti got married to Kishore in 2010 and is an arts graduate. "I will be happy if I get a job at the corporation as it will help me to look after my family, who are now dependent on me," she added.
Meenakshi Shinde, Thane Mayor, confirmed that Priti would be hired as a clerk in the corporation. "In the last general body meeting it was decided that Priti should be hired on a payroll job in TMC. After seeing her qualification, it was decided that she should be given the clerk's position. In the upcoming general body meeting, on November 20, we will issue a work order, and she can join within a week."
