A major traffic jam was reported in Navi Mumbai on Wednesday after an oil tanker carrying inflammable liquid overturned near the CBD flyover. The accident blocked multiple lanes on the Kharghar-Mumbai route, forcing traffic diversions. No casualties were reported, and authorities rushed in to safely transfer the tanker’s contents.

Tanker overturned at CBD flyover
In a very unfortunate incident, an oil tanker carrying inflammable liquid overturned near the CBD flyover on Wednesday afternoon. The accident caused a major disruption on the highway, leading to massive traffic congestion on the route from Kharghar towards Mumbai.
The incident occurred under the metro bridge in Navi Mumbai, forcing authorities to immediately divert traffic and deploy emergency measures to prevent any untoward situation.
As per reports, the tanker overturned while negotiating a turn near the flyover, blocking multiple lanes of traffic. However, no casualties were reported. The accident triggered panic among commuters due to the highly inflammable nature of the liquid being transported.
As soon as information about the incident reached authorities, personnel from the CBD Traffic Department were rushed to the spot and took control of the situation. A spare tanker was immediately called in to safely transfer the contents from the overturned vehicle, a process expected to take several hours.
Furthermore, traffic moving from Kharghar towards Mumbai has been diverted via the flyover above the metro bridge. Navi Mumbai traffic police have also advised commuters to take alternative routes to avoid long delays.
Normal traffic is expected to resume in a few hours, once the tanker is cleared and the road is declared safe for movement.
