Mumbai: One worker dies, two others injured as part of JJ hospital roof collapses

Two workers under observation; contractor booked for deliberately ignoring safety measures and endangering the lives of the workers

A 50-year-old labourer was killed and two others were seriously injured after a portion of the roof of Sir JJ Hospital collapsed around 2.30 pm on Wednesday.

According to the police, five labourers were conducting repairs at one portion of the building when part of the roof came crashing on them. The three were rushed to the hospital, however, one of them, Moftiful Sheikh, a resident of Bandra West, succumbed to injuries. He is survived by his wife, three daughters, and a son. Senior doctors from Sir JJ Hospital said the other two workers—Mohammed Mister and Farazool Haq—have been admitted to the CCU ward and are under observation.
