A decentralised, comprehensive ward parking management plan is to take off in three civic wards in Mumbai. However, this will have to wait for two months as the proposal will now go to the Mumbai Traffic Police, where representations about its implementation will be made. The plan for parking management includes various aspects of duration, all types of parking spaces, pick-up and drop off facilities. Interestingly, the parking fee will drastically come down in the three wards that are currently paying high rates.

mid-day had earlier reported on the Mumbai Parking Authority’s (MPA) plans for a decentralised ward parking management plan, to be implemented on a pilot basis in three wards — D (Malabar Hill and Girgaum), K-West (Andheri West, Jogeshwari West and Vile Parle West) and S ward (Bhandup and Powai). The MPA is keen on involving government authorities to give space for management of parking on their premises. The traffic commissioner has suggested that all parking areas belonging to other government agencies be intimated to participate in the city parking pool.
