Mauris Noronha, accused of fatally shooting Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Abhishek Ghosalkar during a Facebook Live, obtained guidance on using a pistol from YouTube and his bodyguard, as per Mumbai Crime Branch officials.

Noronha, also known as Mauris Bhai in his hometown, reportedly obtained handgun usage advice from his bodyguard Amarendra Mishra and studied YouTube lessons on the subject. He committed the act at his workplace in IC Colony, Borivali, with Mishra's licenced pistol, before killing himself on February 8, reported PTI.

According to the report, the police revealed that Noronha planned the shooting when he saw Mishra at his office the day before, but was unable to carry it out because Mishra had taken the pistol with him.

When authorities examined Noronha's internet browsing history, they discovered that he routinely watched videos on handgun handling practices. Mishra also taught him how to load and handle the pistol.

The police earlier reported a confrontation between Abhishek Ghosalkar and Noronha, who had his political ambitions, the report added.
Over 50 people have given statements to the Crime Branch as part of the investigation.

It was determined that Noronha became disturbed after Ghosalkar informed the US embassy of an alleged rape case filed against him at the MHB police station, PTI report further stated.

Furthermore, Noronha was detained upon returning from the United States and spent 84 days in custody after Ghosalkar's report resulted in the loss of his US visa.

The Crime Branch arrested Mishra under the Arms Act for delivering Noronha with the firearm without first checking his legal licence. He was remanded in judicial detention.

When Noronha was released from prison, he stated that he planned to exact revenge on Ghosalkar. He first attempted to reconcile with Ghosalkar by displaying his banners in the neighbourhood, and later scheduled a Facebook Live session to do so publicly. However, during the livestream, Ghosalkar was shot at Noronha's workplace following which Noronha died by suicide.
