The Mumbai Police have decided to give a cash reward to anyone who gives them information about a police sub-inspector who has been missing for the past 15 days.

They are also putting up pamphlets all over the city, seeking information about him. The police said all attempts to find the cop have failed, and neither does his family have information about him, nor do the teams that went to different places in search of him.
Sanjay Vitthal Chavan, (42), attached with the Cuffe Parade police station, went missing on November 2. &ldquo;He had left his house at Nagpada police quarters for work, but did not return. He also did not go to his police station.
Chavan was disappointed after one of the senior police officers had given him a negative mark on his progress report (service sheet),&rdquo; said a police officer who has been investigating his case.
&ldquo;We sent teams to his native place in Sangli, where his parents stay along with his sister-in-law, but we did not find anything. Our teams also went to Jejuri and Trimbakeshwar in Nasik, but we could not find him there as well.
He had told some colleagues that he needed peace and might go there,&rdquo; said Sharad Borse, senior police inspector of Cuffe Parade police station. &ldquo;We have started putting up pamphlets about Chavan and will give a cash reward to the person who gives us any information about our sub- inspector,&rdquo; said Borse.
He did not specify the amount of the reward. Chavan had left his cell phone at his home when he left for work on November 2. &ldquo;If a police officer decides not to return, he can do it for long and fool other officers, because he knows how he cannot be traced and the ways to avoid the police.
We are hopeful he will return soon after his frustration reduces,&rdquo; said a police officer. Chavan&rsquo;s wife had told mid-day earlier that there were no disputes in the house, and he had also not told her about any problems at office.
