Mumbai: Police to quiz anyone carrying over Rs 50,000 cash

In their bid to curb malpractices before the upcoming assembly polls, police have decided to initiate action against those carrying over R50,000 without proper documentation. Officials said they suspect that those contesting the polls could use money to influence voters, hence the strict vigil.
Moreover, the police have also seized 13 country-made illegal firearms, 29 cartridges, and have initiated action against 4,813 history-sheeters as a preventive measure. “Upon questioning, anybody carrying more than Rs 50,000 will have to show the withdrawal slip, and the purpose for withdrawal.
